Clearlooks

When I first saw the new version of the ‘Clearlooks’ Metacity theme I was a little skeptical. It looks good, but I’m not sure the old version didn’t look better. Nonetheless, I decided to try it out, and discovered that when a window is maximised the clickable area of the close button is flush with the top right-hand corner of the screen!

One of my biggest beefs with Gnome has for some time been that no Metacity themes did this. I had, in fact, suspected that it might not be possible to do this with Metacity, or at least not without having the buttons visibly extending to the end of the window. Now it seems that’s not the case. Finally I can close windows with the mouse without having to carefully click on a button. And the look of the new theme is growing on me as well.
