{"id":1464,"date":"2026-01-18T20:58:45","date_gmt":"2026-01-18T20:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.axelfendersson.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1464"},"modified":"2026-03-05T15:07:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T15:07:58","slug":"recipe-slow-cooked-spicy-beef","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.axelfendersson.co.uk\/blog\/2026\/01\/recipe-slow-cooked-spicy-beef\/","title":{"rendered":"Recipe: Slow-cooked spicy beef"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Serves 3-4.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>400g beef braising steak<\/li>\n<li>100g smoked bacon lardons<\/li>\n<li>1 medium onion, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 large bell pepper, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 habanero pepper, chopped<\/li>\n<li>2 tomatoes, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp chopped garlic<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp smoked paprika<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp oregano<\/li>\n<li>1 tab maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>500ml bottle of beer<\/li>\n<li>a little salt and pepper<\/li>\n<li>oil for frying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Set the oven to 120&deg;C.<\/li>\n<li>Heat the oil in a medium Dutch oven or casserole dish on the hob. Add the bacon and fry until it is just beginning to crisp.<\/li>\n<li>Add the onion and garlic and fry until soft and lightly browned.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in the paprika, then add the beef. Fry until the beef is brown.<\/li>\n<li>Add the peppers and tomatoes and stir in the oregano and maple syrup. Add a dash of salt and a little black pepper. Then pour in just enough beer to cover everything (probably about 2\/3 of the bottle). Drink the rest.<\/li>\n<li>Bring to a simmer, then cover with the lid and place in the oven. Leave for four hours.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the oven. Remove the lid and simmer on the hob until reduced and thickened.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with large portions of macaroni cheese.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Serves 3-4.
